- "In fact, crime is down in the city,"
- "The reason why it appears there's more crime is because we have more officers on the street arresting more people."
- When asked how he knew crime was down after the meeting, Leighton said the number of arrests have dropped.

ReplyDeleteRIGHT!!!
DeleteDOES ANYONE ON HERE THINK THE CRIME RATE IN WILKES BARRE DROPPED OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, OR IS LOWER THAN IN THE PAST. hmmmm....... NOPE JUST WHAT I THOUGHT. ANYONE WHO THINKS THE CRIME RATE IN WILKES BARRE HAS DROPPED OR IS LOWER NOW THAN EVER SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER GROUP THERAPY SINCE YOU ARE PROBABLY SUFFERING FROM DELUSIONS. I WOULD GUESS MOST PEOPLE WOULD SAY IT HAS RISEN. A FEW YEARS AGO I READ A ARTICLE IN THE NEWS PAPER THAT STATED STATISTICS ABOUT CRIME PER POPULATION DENSITY.
ReplyDeleteWILKES BARRE HAD A CRIME RATE OF 2.7 CRIMES PER 1000 PEOPLE, AND NEW YORK CITY HAD A CRIME RATE OF 1.2 CRIMES PER 1000 PEOPLE. ASTONISHING THE CRIME RATE IS HIGHER IN WILKES BARRE COMPARED TO NEW YORK CITY. NEW YORK CITY HAS A POPULATION OF 8.3 MILLION PEOPLE AS OF 2012 AND WILKES BARRE WITH A ONGOING DWINDLING DECREASING POPULATION OF 41,465. THAT'S WHY THE CRIME RATE IS HIGHER IN WILKES BARRE COMPARED TO NEW YORK CITY. WILKES BARRE HAS HIGHER CRIME THAN ONE OF THE BIGGEST CITIES IN AMERICA BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE THE JOBS, THE QUALITY OF LIFE, THE CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES, OR THE EVENTS OF A BIG CITY. WILKES BARRE ALSO HAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATES IN THE UNITED STATES AND "THE" HIGHEST IN PENNSYLVANIA. ANYONE EVER STOP TO WONDER WHY THAT IS. IF YOU LOOK AT THE NUMBERS YOU WILL SEE THAT AREAS THAT HAVE HIGH CRIMES RATES ALSO HAVE THE HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATES AND WELFARE RATES. SO LOGIC WOULD DICTATE THAT IF... AND I SAY IF, GOD WOULD TO BLESS US AND BRING ALL KINDS OF GREAT JOBS TO WILKES BARRE AND NORTHEAST PA, WOULD THE CRIME RATE DECREASE ??? WOULD WILKES BARRE'S DECREASING POPULATION START TO EVEN OUT AND MAYBE START TO INCREASE ?? IT APPEARS TO ME THAT CITIES THAT ARE NO LONGER ECONOMICALLY VIABLE WILKES BARRE AND OTHER LOCAL CITIES INCLUDED, THEY HAVE HIGH CRIME RATES, AND HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT, AND HIGH WELFARE RECIPIENTS, AND MANY DRUG DEALERS...ETC...ETC. SO WHAT'S THE POINT OF THIS YOU'RE WONDERING. THE POINT IS THIS; UNTIL WE ALL START HOLDING OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE, ****STOP BELIEVING***** THEIR BULLSHIT LIES AND DECEPTIONS, AND START CARING AND PAYING ATTENTION, NOTHING WILL CHANGE, WILKES BARRE WILL HAVE A POPULATION OF 2500 DECENT PEOPLE, 5000 CRIME LORDS, 5000 DRUG DEALERS. AND 10,000 WELFARE SPONGES OR ANY COMBINATION THERE-OF. TOTAL CHAOS AND ANARCHY WILL ENSUE AND WE WILL ALL LIVE HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS LIVES.
