John or Bruce for Mayor???

What’s in a name?

Well as it would seem, if you run for county council, lose, then get yourself on the ethics board with one name, and have perhaps tarnished said name, upon resigning from said ethics board, you could always use your pen-name if you plan to seek another office.

It’s likely the public wouldn't even notice, the chances of that of course increase if you’re in Luzerne County, and if you’re in Wilkes Barre, well then you’re golden.

According to a recent post that appeared on the personal Facebook pages of several of Wake Up Wilkes Barre’s Facebook friend’s, Mr. John Simpson will be announcing shortly in the press, that he is a candidate for Mayor of Wilkes Barre, City.

Problem:
John Simpson, A.K.A. Bruce Simpson seems to be off to a great start. As it appears he is either using a pen-name or alias. Now this could just be a Facebook pen-name for business reasons, but using one name for voter registration, and another name when publicly soliciting campaign assistance seems a bit unethical, but then again we've had 10 years of no ethics in the mayor’s office, so why start now?

Facebook's Name Policy:
Facebook is a community where people use their real identities. We require everyone to provide their real names, so you always know who you're connecting with.

Hear that Catfish?

WB Ordinance Enforcement JOKE???

Wilkes-Barre does not go easy on vacant property owners. At least not on paper.  Said Chris Hong of the Citizens Voice, and Mr. Hong, you are 100% CORRECT!!!

The City of Wilkes Barre under King Lie-A-Ton, is not at all Impartial, Just, or Fair. We pass ordinances to either make less informed citizens Feel Good, or serve the interests of his lordship, and his cronies.

Fact: In 2010 city council passed the vacant property ordinance, and to date, NOT ONE property has been registered. So either the boarded up home next to you does not exist or once again, The King has FAILED!

Municipal Affairs Manager Drew Mc-Laugh-Lin said code enforcement doesn't have enough employees.
Even the Citizens Voice is tired of that same old excuse, as they stated “It's the second lapse code enforcement has blamed on inadequate staffing.”

Get a clue Drew, had you cited these dump owners, the city could have owned, rehabbed, and/or sold them, and increased revenue by now, thus hired more enforcers.

Council Chairman Bill Barrett, and Councilman Mike Merritt sound as though they are getting a bit perturbed as well.

Barrett:
"We at that time thought, and I still think, that we should follow through on this," Barrett said. "I suspected this was going by the wayside in some ways. Eventually, someone is going to get hurt, or one will erupt in fire. I can only imagine having one next to me."
  • Glad to see your Waking up Bill.

Merritt:
Said he was unaware the city wasn't enforcing it. "If someone feels it's important enough to make it a law, the people should sure as hell enforce it," Merritt said. "If the administration doesn't feel it should be enforced, let's get it off the books. We have too many things not enforced to begin with."

Now onto One-Strike:
An Ordinance that looks to have been designed in order to combat problems like Sherman Hills. Essentially giving the city the power to shut down Hellholes like that before any more innocent children are gunned down.

But according to Mc-Laugh-Lin: If only one unit is at fault, the unit will be shut down and not the entire complex.

How about a complex where Drugs are sold in the hallways, parking lots, and play areas, or a complex where officers who respond to calls for help, leave with bullet wounds, or a complex where innocent children are shot in the face, or neck?
  • Which unit will be closed Drew?

For those of you who still "Believe", I ask you to please report to Sherman Hills, for routine, daily, safety walks.

Tenant Notified/Landlord Shut-Down

That’s the way it goes in Wilkes Barre, well unless you’re a buddy, or campaign contributor.

For those of you who still think I’m just being facetious, I have two names for you.

Betsy Summers: Citied, RIGHT after running for mayor, (being the only candidate who truly took the King to task). Oh sure she let folks move into her apt over the weekend (with verbal authorization from an inspector) and when another inspector came on Monday, folks were living there (With NO code violations found, the Apt PASSED).
  • Betsy Cited $1,000.00 One Thousand Dollars.

Sherman Hills: Blatantly Violated the Rental Inspection Ordinance for YEARS, while citizens screamed for inspections, complained about lost revenue, and pointed to numerous health code violations.
  • Sherman Hills Cited $0.00 ZERO Dollars.

Frank Sorick, president of the Wilkes-Barre Taxpayers Association, said he favors the concept, but expressed concerns about the details and implementation — particularly a provision holding that any notice “given to the agent, property manager or occupant shall be deemed as notice given to the owner,” and that “a claimed lack of knowledge by the owner, property manager or agent” will not stand as defense against closure of a rental unit.
  • So in other words, your either knew, or should have known, but in either case, You're Guilty. WOW should like any landlord shut down, could be promoted from District Attorney to Judge.

City Attorney Bill Vinsko replied that the city wants to “keep the duty on the occupant,”
Yet the ordinance only has consequences for the land owner????

“This is not going to be applied in a vacuum,” Vinsko said. “We’re confident the correct application of this will succeed.”

Hum, I wonder if Mr. Vinsko feels "correct application" of the Rental Ordinance was applied in the cases of Sherman Hill (campaign supporter), and Betsy Summers (Critic)?

Parking Garages not just for “Parking your Porsche”

Don’t let it be said that Wilkes Barre doesn’t have a nightlife. In fact our King has worked tirelessly to achieve that said nightlife, attracting one bar after another to the downtown. So much so that he has earned the nickname “Downtown Tommy”.  But alas his lordship's work is paying off, at least in our parking structures that is. Lately they’ve seen more action than the Vegas Strip, yet Hawkeye has seen no evil heard no evil.

Just look at a few recent news reports:

A woman reported she was raped at the bus station while waiting to catch a bus.
  • Now I’ve heard of killing time waiting on the bus, but this one takes the cake, and “the woman told police she missed her bus and had to wait an hour for another” this is when this scumbag, (with a well connected family) allegedly came up to her (with a kid in tow), and sexual assulted her, did he make the 4 year old watch??? SICK, SICK, SICK... Click here to read: Wilkes-Barre man facing rape charge

Car stolen from Intermodal, and Hawkeye saw NOTHING...

Would be movie goers flee the city never to return. All due to the massive amount of car break-ins in our parking structures.

Bednar wins Controllers Seat in Landslide!!!!

Mark my words people that will be the headline on November 6th and the Luzerne County GOP singlehandedly, handed Ms. Bednar the election when they passed up Karen Ceppa-Hirko, who by the way was the ONLY candidate in the race who was actually qualified to be controller, but hey who needs qualifications in Luzerne County?

Bednar: (D) Officer Manager of 2 brokers. That’s it. The 2 owners of the firm, and her.

Olenginski: (R) Elected to the county Prothonotary post in 1997 and 2009.

So we (Luzerne County) go from a mechanic to an officer manger no matter how you slice it, and it’s a safe bet that Bednar will easily defeat Olenginski, in fact Mohegan Sun should be issuing 1 to 1,000,000,000,000 odds for Carolee to win, anytime now!

Congratulations Controller Bednar

King’s Brother Rubber Stamped

As told by the Citizens Voice, It was an unusual move for Toole, who often butts heads with the president's four-man voting block. In casting the decisive vote for Leighton, Toole said it was her "prerogative." When asked by a reporter, Toole also said she was friends with the Leighton family, "but that has nothing to do with (her vote)."

  • Well then that explains it, Right? Not so FAST

"I vote my conscience and I felt he was the best one for the job," she said after the meeting.

  • Now we’ve got it Mrs. Toole, it had nothing to do with your friendship with him or his family, it was likely his qualifications, state certifications, or lack there of???
  • Hum just a thought here, but if your buddies as Toole herself exclaimed, should you NOT abstain from the vote, based on said relationship?

Board President John Quinn personally took heat Monday for comments he made to The Citizens' Voice after the hiring of the truant officer, in which he said "the kinds of places those people go to, most people wouldn't have the guts to take those kinds of jobs. I wouldn't."

Tracey Hughes, another frequent critic of the board who has a child in the district, called Quinn's comment "ignorant, unethical and very disturbing."

In response, Quinn said he "probably made a mistake" and after the meeting read a prepared statement to reporters. "I didn't mean to harm anybody or show any type of disrespect to anyone. If I offended anyone, I apologize," he said.

  • Oh come-on Tracey "ignorant, unethical and very disturbing." What do you expect from the man who taught Jensen’s  Theory?
Thank you TheWBIG.com

BAR Joke:

Ok here goes: A man staggers out of a bar (Liam’s Bar, 760 N. Washington St), let’s call him Jared. A short time later man calls 911, and requests an ambulance for what he reports as “being stabbed in the leg” for not complying with a robbers demand.

PROBLEM: No wound on either Leg at ER??? OK I’ve watched every episode of Heroes, and either Jared is the cheerleader, or he made a false report to 911, but WHY???

What is wrong with this 31 year old, known privileged trouble maker? Being the son of a local magistrate who has been reportedly seen making out with a well-known transvestite at an area bar, and Cruella de Vil, I highly doubt anyone will look into this.

Is the DPW Drunken Snake, Driving your Kids?

According to the Independent Gazette there's a DPW employee (Matthew (Snake) Scott) who is required by PennDot to use a breathalyzer in order to start his own car, but we the people allow this Drunk to Drive our vehicle’s and bypass the PennDot requirement.

As if the thought of a 2 time convicted DUI, AKA Drunk Driver, driving city owned automobiles wasn’t bad enough, this very same Drunkard is tooling around the city (with your children) in a city car, that has NO breathalyzer equipped. That is of course if they work for the city’s Summer Jobs Program.

Allowing someone to skirt Pennsylvania Law seems a bit snake like don’t ya think?

Cave through the Cracks?

For those of you who haven’t been following the Wilkes Barre Independent Gazette’s coverage of the City Parking Enforcement Officer who likes abusing women, Wake Up people.

Parking Enforcement Officer Nicholas Cave seems to have a temper, and his out of control behavior may one day land him in the hot seat, especially now that The WBIG won’t back down.

According to the Gazette, this guy doesn’t just harass residents, he simply assault them. Cave allegedly responded to the home of a citizen, and verbally assaulted her. Insisting the citizen called 911, even after the citizen attempted to offer proof that she had not.

Then when the citizen had taken all she could take, and threatens to call the press if Cave didn’t stop, he kept badgering her further, asking "Who are you calling, Mr. Sorick?", but God forbid the little weasel return the newspaper’s calls.

So like any good newspaper the Gazette ran the story, and low and behold a reader notices that the little slime ball currently has charges pending against him, but for reasons that seem to baffle the court, they mysteriously slipped through the cracks in the seemingly airtight Luzerne County Judicial System.

Just a thought here Nick, if you have something to hide you probably shouldn’t go around antagonizing reporters.

King’s Bro lands new Gig

According to the Times Leader By a contentious 5-4 vote, the Wilkes-Barre Area School Board tonight voted to hire Brian Leighton, the brother of city Mayor Tom Leighton, as a home and school visitor.

Katsock identified Brian Leighton as the mayor’s brother.
  • Are you telling me the other board members didn't recognize the King’s Bro?
Katsock also believes that because Leighton’s hire went against the recommendation of the interview committee, it was made “in violation of the hiring policy.”

Quinn would not comment on Katsock’s remarks.

  • There’s a shocker, perhaps because she’s 100% Correct!!!

Voted to Hire the King’s Bro
  • John Quinn
  • Louis Elmy
  • Dino Galella
  • Phillip Latinski
  • Maryanne Toole

Voted as Responsible Board Members
  • Lynn Evans
  • Christine Katsock
  • James Susek
  • Rev. Shawn Walker

Thank you to the 4 Honest School Board Members, and as for the other 5 Shysters, Good God, I sure hope there’s a Billboard in your honor coming soon, courtesy of The Wilkes Barre City Taxpayers Association.
